Blackjack Tips

The goal of Blackjack is to achieve a hand value of 21 without going over (busting) while beating the dealer's hand value. There are some tips that you can use that will make your decisions whether to hit for a third card, stand with your two cards or to employ another strategy.

You should Hit when:
You have a pair of 6's when the dealer's upcard shows a 7 or more.
When you have a soft hand with a value less than 18.

You should Stand when:
Your hand is 17 or higher and you do not have an Ace or a pair.
Your hand is less than 17 and the dealer's hand shows a 7 or more.

You should Double Down when:
You have a hand value of 10 when the dealer shows a 9 or less.
If the dealer shows an 10 when your hand value is 11.
If your hand contains an Ace, 6 and the dealer's hand has 3, 4, 5, or 6.

You should Split when:
You hand has a pair of 4s and the dealer's hand shows a 5 or 6.
If the dealer's hand shows a 7 or less you should split a pair of 7s.
Your hand contains a pair of 2s and the dealer's hand is a seven or less.

You should Surrender when:
If your hand contains a 10-6 and the dealer's upcard shows a 9, 10 or Ace.
The dealer's hand shows a 9, 10 Ace and your hand is a 9-7.
